Lizard Fair June 15, 2002

Well...it started out rainy and cold but spirits high for sure. I met up with Christy (chzn01) and Sara (MangoHayes). We talked for a bit, then stood in line to get into the venue just after 11am. I was just counting down the time till I was to place that fateful call to Brandon Edwards to meet Darren - 6 pm. I got a quick bite to eat with Christy - Sara had to wait for Rosa (another BBSer) since Rosa had her ticket & Sara's. Just after that my mobile phone rang - it was Elaine (DarrensMattress) calling. She called 3 times during the day. I also kept Francesca (Mousedancing) up to date as well - she posted in a thread at the official board too - Thank you Fran!! ICEGOY was playing when Elaine called as well! The station did play ICEGOY twice & Insatiable one time too. I also met up with other wonderful people - some post and some do not on the board: Karina, Nancyanna, Deb, Terry, Nikki, Sharnell (Miss Promo Queen *LOL*), Rosa, Kelly, Cat, Cindy, and many others whose names I do not recall. Sharnell was the "Miss Promo Queen" handing out the most Darren SPIN postcards chatting up nearly everyone that she gave a card too. The Street Team members must have handed out close to 2000 postcards. Also we held up various types of home made promo signs. Also Cindy's van was decorated with Darren lyrics and things promoting her site, Darren, and the Street Teams too with the washable paint stuff. I had also had the BBSers and Street Team Members who all met up sign a book I put together to give him too. 

I called the DJ at 6pm and he said wait till 7pm then call. I did that - he said Darren was running late and the same with the show. The next 2 hours seemed to drag. Then Brandon told us that we could meet Darren...it was after 9 pm.. 4 people total could come back including myself - I invited KarinaMay (SonyBites), NancyAnna (DarrensKrytponite), and Sara (MangoHayes)... but it would be brief - no autographs but he would pose for a pic with us. He came out of a van wearing his jean jacket, jeans, white tee shirt and RED shoes. He flashed his trademark smile that lights up a room and his face. The radio station person that took the group shot had Darren stand RIGHT NEXT to me... I couldnt believe it... he was RIGHT there... I rested my right hand on his left shoulder.. I was in a Darren haze *LOL* I dont remember much about those few brief moments... then he had to go onstage right afterwards... we all rushed back to the front of the rails in front of the stage just before Darren started. Don't quote me on the order but he did do: Dirty, Strange Relationship, Insatiable, I Knew I Loved You, Truly Madly Deeply, I Want You, and Good Enough. YES Darren did look RIGHT at me SEVERAL times during the show too... During Good Enough several people including myself held up our hands in the shape of a heart to him and he also pointed to his shoes during the part "shoes on my toes". The crowd responded very well to him - he was the last performer for the day. I have been in a SPIN *LOL* since I got to touch him... It still hasnt hit me yet.... I dont remember much of what he said backstage or onstage... it was amazing to hear his angelic and sultry voice LIVE and up close again. After the show many of us went out for a celebration dinner of sorts and farewell since many have to fly home early.... it was a night to remember.... I will never forget it EVER.

Thank you WIOG for bringing Darren Hayes to Michigan.... Thank you Brandon Edwards for letting me "chat and promo and request" Darren's music and arranging the meet & greet with Darren... (and a pic will come soon -it was taken by someone at the station - Darren LOOKED SO GREAT!!!) Thank you to all of my Street Team and BBS friends that I met up with again - some for the first time some it has been many times.. and a HUGE THANK YOU Darren for making "the stars shining brightly in the Midland skies" with your angelic voice & for being so gracious and kind to pose with a group of 4 BBSer women plus a few other men and women we didnt know just before you went on... and YES I will never get over the fact I got to stand NEXT to him...and YES he smelled good... and someday when there is more time, I will get my hug...but Karina & I - got our Leonie and Darren books to security as well...

Shall I sleep now... no... *LOL* I can't ever get enough now.... :) :)
